Len has transformed 15 years of struggles with Schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression into education and inspiration for thousands of people throughout Canada. Recently graduated from Algonquin College’s public relations (PR) program, Len is now dedicating his career path to dispelling myths about Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder affecting about one per cent of the population. When active, symptoms can include delusions and trouble with thinking and concentration. Despite these challenges, Len is a true champion whose journey has been tumultuous at times. Depression, loneliness, and feelings of helplessness led to suicide attempts. After finding professional help for his illness, Len now uses his experiences and education to help others with mental illness. In 2016, Len’s PR class raised $20,000 for The Royal’s Schizophrenia program. Earlier this year, Len’s story was showcased as part of Bell Let’s Talk.
