March 9, 1995: The episode is titled "Space Invaders," because the main storyline is Kyle (T.C. Carson) seeing his style cramped by the romance of Synclaire (Kim Coles) and Overton (John Henton). Max (Erika Alexander) got caught on tape with "a whole lot of freaky-sneaky" with a male stripper. And she doesn't want Kyle to see the tape, especially now that they've had the first breakup in their I-hate-you-but-I-want-you relationship. And she mixed up that tape with a copy of the thriller film "Speed" from the video store. (Mixing up sex tapes with regular feature films was a common trope of 1990s sitcoms.) And now, Kyle thinks he's borrowed "Speed," when, instead, he's got the Max tape. Regine (Kim Fields) rather enjoys telling Max who's got it. After this clip, Khadijah came up with a plan to get the tape back without Kyle knowing it. Of course, this show was a comedy, and, while Queen Latifah has been starring on the reboot of "The Equalizer" since 2021, Khadijah James was no Robyn McCall. Like most TV shows, "Living Single" saw its episodes cut for time for their syndication packages. So someone who only knows the show through reruns won't see Kyle's reaction to the tape. He returns it to Max, thanking her, because it helped his date with his current girlfriend.
