Arrested late Sunday night for criminal conspiracy and supplying arms to gangster Vikas Dubey, businessman Jay Vajpayee had been found allegedly involved in illegal land grabbing activities along with Dubey as well as possessing arms licence and a passport despite acriminal record, in a probe conducted in 2017-18. However, the findings of the probe were never acted on. Vajpayee, a Kanpur-based businessman who has reportedly amassed huge wealth over the years, was known to be a key financier of Dubey and his gang. His role in the gangster’s web of criminal activities has attracted even greater attention after pictures of him with senior police officials and bureaucrats of UP emerged on social media.
