My car requires some work to do but before doing that work I was thinking if that amount of investment (money and time) really worth it. So I came out with the idea to check weather the engine in a good condition or not. That's why I decided to make a compression test and based on the results I can make a final decision.
In this video I'm demonstrating how to perform a compression test for a BMW e46 with an M54 engine. The procedure should be for petrol cars also similar.
Notice that this is a warm compression test, so the engine was warmed up before.
The first thing to do before the test is to remove the DME relay and the fuel pump fuse (so you don't get surprised by sparks or fuel while performing the test.
