@nathant74374 years ago A very weird fight indeed as mentioned by the others. Thought they were fighting, but then the smaller one approached and went into the submissive stance in which made me think they were playing roughly, then the end left me confused. Life sucks. ... 40

@veloro76 years ago Looks like young leopard just left its nest and came across this bigger male. It thought it would behave like its mum and play with it. But it failed to read the bigger leopard's body language and was too naive. It paid a heavy price for that. ... 60

@lerumothespear69865 years ago Recently (early June 2019) about fifteen lions escaped from Kruger and many people
thought once caught they must be released back in the bush. But the other theory (from the Rangers) was that they can't go back to Kruger National Park as they might have lost a battle for territory with other lions hence they were now roaming next to a village ...

@zaizen43595 years ago First it looked like a fight....you could see the smaller leopard rest for a moment and then suddenly try to gather its strength to try to get the bigger one off of him (or trying to get the bigger leopard to let down his guard for a moment and slacken his grip?)
When the bigger leopard let him go, I was really surprised.
For a moment I also thought it might just be some super rough playing, only because the smaller leopard ran right back up to the larger one after he let him go.............but clearly it was just that smaller one didn't learn his lesson. The body language of the larger leopard was way too violent for that to be play. When he dragged the smaller one off it was pretty horrifying actually...imagine being in that position! At that moment I figured the smaller one's life was over. Honestly it was less vicious than it could have been. Death by suffocation is pretty efficient, compared to shredding the poor thing with his teeth and claws.

  • @
@blobbertmcblob48885 years ago The young leopard seems like it might have been sick. It's unusual behavior, it seems literally unphased by the older leopard which is clearly biting with force. Makes me wonder if it was rabid or had distemper. 29

@270687carl3 years ago Nature can be odd - the larger mature male Leopard gave mercy to the younger male which was opportunity to walk away but still he went back in on the much stronger leopard and at a cost of it's life 4

@brettforsyth48425 years ago Smaller leopard: Hi, wanna play?
Larger leopard: Does this answer your question?(pulls out ak-47)

  • @
@ChuckJacksontampaphotographer3 years ago Why would the losing leopard just lie down and allow his killer the dominant position? I don't understand why that's a strategy...
At first I thought they were just playing around, play fighting...😲

@jmcjmc20076 years ago If I had to guess the smaller leopard is an older cub of the bigger one and kept refusing to leave to find its own territory after weaning 130
  • @
@Bazza50003 years ago It seems like the young one was itching to fight a much stronger adult leopard, and the older one finally had enough after more than one warning and deciding to kill him. I guess he was trying to play, but some people, like some animals of your kind, you keep away from them and keep a distance. ... 7

@PAULLONDEN4 years ago "Territory" indeed... The smaller leopard went on it's back ,which looked like "playing" ......but is actually a defensive strategy of many feline species to give their opponent as little space as possible to attack , and have easier access to the throat of the opponent. Which was useless here because the other leopard was so much stronger.
Strange it didn't run while it still had the chance but went back to continue the confrontation.

  • @
@thijsjong6 years ago Why the thumbs down. If you dont like it don't watch. The leopard defends its territory. If a territory is shared it means the available prey is halved witch means starvation, no food for cubs etc. That's why lions kill hyena's.
The smaller Leopard got a warning. Should have walked of but kept comming back. It would have been a bigger threat to the other Leopard if it was left alive to grow.

@SHINESunshinee8724 years ago The one whom got killed submitted to the one fighting (when he rolled over on his back thats a submissive move.) so to then kill him afterwards. Something is missing here. They both look like younger males even the one who killed was a young adult ..you can tell by the size of the neck especially. I dont think either of them were playing lol. You can tell when the one who got killed stood up he was dizzy from being chocked but nothing about this was play. They usually don’t kill each other and one usually submits to the other. Then it’s over, usually ... 4

@jackedavocado86894 years ago Might be mother and it's offspring. At some point the mother will start neglecting it's offspring after a certain time and this might even bring confusion to the young leopard who was used to be playfull with mom. But eventually their relationship will change so radically that the mother starts viewing her own offspring as a threat in her territory that could end in deadly confrontations. ... 3
